Middlebury School in Germany: Mainz

Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

The Middlebury School in Germany offers an exceptional academic program to undergraduates at U.S. colleges and universities. Students who have completed 2-3 years of German language training are invited to participate in the program under the Middlebury Language Pledge®, a commitment to speak exclusively the target language for the duration of their time abroad.

Mainz, located in the heart of Germany's largest wine producing region, is the state capital of Rheinland-Pfalz. The city is remarkable for the way its 2,000-year history is woven into its culture - centuries of Roman occupation, the forces of medieval Christendom, and the revolutionary invention of mechanical printing have become ingrained in today's city. Old, cobblestone streets wind around cathedrals and churches that pass by palaces and museums and lead to vibrant neighborhoods rebuilt after World War II. For the student who is fascinated by history, architecture, and German culture, Mainz offers a wealth of opportunities. Situated on the Rhine river, the city blends both rural and urban worlds. One can stand in town and see green rolling hills, stroll through the city's many parks and markets, or enjoy the city's commercial and cultural center. Mainz is an excellent option for students wishing to immerse themselves in a mid-sized German city.
