Program Description

Study Abroad in the dynamic city of Cape Town and enroll in the Service Learning Program with Marquette University South Africa. This is an ideal opportunity to learn about South Africa and become immersed in the local community. You will be able to see how South Africa has rebuilt in the wake of the ending of apartheid.

Program participants will experience a combination of real-world experience and academic learning. You will be placed in a local NGO as you use the information gained from attending courses at the University of Western Cape. This university actively contributed to the end of apartheid.

• Housing: You will live with fellow program participants in the Kimberely House in the Observatory neighborhood of Cape Town. Known locally as "Obs," the neighborhood is an intimate community with great energy. By living in community, you will make 20 new best friends that you will stay in contact with long after the program concludes.
• Cultural Activities: Excursions to Table Mountain; historic District 6 in the city's center; Robben Island; retreat to Hermanus in the Western Cape
• University of the Western Cape: full access to the university, including library, computers, extracurricular student organizations
