Program Description
This is a 4 week summer study abroad program beginning May 30, 2015 and ending June 28, 2015. Participants must be at least 18 years old and must enroll in a 3-unit psychology class at American River College in Sacramento, California for the summer 2015 term. Enrollment in the college is open to any adult and because the class is held in London, there is no need to ever set foot on the campus. The class is transferable as psychology general education credit to the California State University system. The class covers psychological aspects of the experiences we have while in London with emphasis on Sigmund Freud, Charles Darwin, culture, social norms, conformity, obedience to authority, gender roles, and development. The topics are designed to have wide appeal for anyone, and being a psychology major is not required. The program is designed so that students get a basic, academic exposure to many well known sites in London and surrounding areas, but also have plenty of time to explore London and surrounding areas on their own. All arrangements in London as well as applications to the program are made through the American Institute of Foreign Studies (AIFS).
Highlights
This is the fourth year of the program with an average of 23 students participating in each of the last three years. Students describe the experience as "life changing" and some students have used the experience as preparation to participate in other study abroad programs offered through our college and district (Los Rios Community College District). London has been described as the most vibrant, diverse city in the world. There is never a dull moment while studying abroad in London. What`s Included
