Program Description

The Language Club is a language school that has been teaching Portuguese as a foreign language at all levels since 1993. In addition to its quality, the school also stands out for its privileged location in Florianópolis, south of Brazil, a safe city that has beautiful landscapes and high HDI, one of the most sought after places to live in Brazil – the perfect place to learn Portuguese!

We have taught Portuguese to foreign students from different ages and backgrounds, including university students, diplomats, businessmen and women. We also organize courses (on demand) according to the needs of NGOs, universities (summer courses) and international organizations.

The Language Club building has currently 9 classrooms on 2 floors, including 4 rooms with interactive whiteboards. All classrooms are equipped with air conditioning and sound systems. There is also a library available for the students. The school is a wi-fi zone, allowing students to use their own notebooks and smart technology. In addition, there are restroom facilities, a coffee lounge and a beautiful garden.

The school is located in Lagoa da Conceição neighborhood, a privileged location in Florianópolis, south of Brazil, a safe city that has beautiful landscapes and high HDI – the perfect place to learn Portuguese! Florianópolis has been attracting thousands of foreign visitors in recent years because of its natural beauty, high standards of living and safety.

Highlights

The Language Club adopts a communicative methodology. The courses are very interactive and grammar and vocabulary are learned in context. Class dynamics make use of simulation activities encouraging students’ language practice.

In general, the courses cover the four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Aspects of Brazilian culture are also included in the course syllabus.

In the last 15 years, The Language Club has been teaching Portuguese to English, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, German, Swedish, Danish, French speaking people and many other nationalities in elementary, intermediate and advanced levels.

Living with a Brazilian Family

Homestay is a great way of engaging in the Brazilian lifestyle and culture. Living with a Brazilian family places you in a language immersion situation that encourages you to interact in Portuguese through real-life experience. The Language Club has a selection of families ready to welcome you and give you the right amount of freedom and support.

Homestay accommodation includes: Portuguese-speaking Brazilian families, a furnished private room (bed and bedding, desk, chair, desk lamp, closet) and access to bathroom facilities and other common areas in the house. Breakfast is optional.
