Program Description
Maximize your study abroad experience!...Get an invaluable insight into French society.
The IMLS programs allow students to immerse themselves in French and Mediterranean culture through service-learning: a unique combination of theory through academic study and practical learning through volunteer community service.
Content:
1/ French language at the IMLS (rolling adissions) or at the University (semester programs). Assessment of language competence using the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL)
2/ Service- Learning including:
-Volunteer community service activities such as health care institutions (hospitals, retirement homes), language tutoring for disadvanteged children, Culture and Art centers, environment (community gardens), shelter homes etc...
- a course on Institutions in Society coupled with volunteer activities. The course deals with the major issues at stake in French society and the way they are dealt with by institutions. The course complements the community service, linking traditional learning and experimentation.
-journals and videocats to reflect upon community service activities
3/ Homestay (half-board : breakfast and dinner included)
Housing in a host family allows a total immersion in French culture and language.
4/ Options
-Gourmet programs (cooking courses and wine-study tours in the region internationally recognized for its wine-growing heritage.).
-Customized and faculty-led programs to suit individual requ
