Chinese Language Summer School

Learn Mandarin Chinese while experiencing the dynamic and engrossing Chinese culture.

You will have the opportunity to:

- Use downtime or the period before or after the program to explore this diverse country

2 to 4 week courses are offered through the XJTLU Summer Course.

Optimal course for :

- Never studied Chinese before and want to learn this important language
- Have some Chinese background and want an effective refresher course
- Want to accelerate your level
- Interested in doing HSK

Courses* are taught by experienced teaching instructors who are knowledgeable in teaching Chinese as a second language. Instruction takes place in small group classes divided by skill level. The four language skills (speaking, listening, writing, and reading) are covered with an emphasis on everyday language. We go over language used for travelling, working, and living in China. 15 hours of classroom based language instruction take place each week from Monday to Friday with 5 hours of culture lessons each week. There are plenty of opportunities to use the language you are learning in social areas and on the streets.

Activities
Students will also have the opportunity to learn a variety of modern and traditional cultural activities. Learn about calligraphy or hone your Tai Chi abilities. Students can learn to cook or participate in excursions for Karaoke, to Lake Tai, Nanjing, or Suzhou’s famous garden. Students will also participate in a traditional tea ceremony.

Mon-Friday 09.00-12.00 - Chinese language classes
Two afternoons - cultural activities/lessons
Optional (charged) 4 day visit to Xi’an after the course
