I studied Chinese language for 2 months while I was in Beijing; this fell under the short term courses offered through Go Abroad China. They got me registered at a school in Beijing and predominantly used the class assigned textbook. My classmates were all foreigners, but because our levels don't match 100% sometimes it was a bit challenging to follow. Chinese is hard to learn of course but I like it as a language, I am still a beginner, I managed to reach level 2 by the time I left Beijing after two months.
For anyone thinking of going to China to study Chinese there, I think its a good idea, for sure it worked for me. Beijing is also a great city to be in. Make sure you get a great location with your housing otherwise you don't want to be stuck in a place where you will uncomfortable with.
