Program Description

Students learn about the English language while in an international environment. This will develop necessary skills that translate to interpreting, editing, teaching, and any field that requires flexibility, adaptability and creativity.

Developed in 2012, Applied English is a programme for interested students of the English language. Students will be able to learn about English in depth rather than merely focus on developing language abilities. Students will be able to major in English and is one of the most popular choices for international study of humanities. Students will learn how the language has developed in the world today while covering fields and disciplines such as Discourse Studies, Translation and Interpretation, and Literature and Linguistics.

The goals of this course are building:

Students’ abilities in English linguistically and increasing literary awareness to a very high level with particular emphasis on writing clearly and persuasively
Students’ professional English language skills in the practice of translation & interpreting
Understanding of international perspectives in the study of language
Abilities to use linguistic and literary approaches in the analysis of language
Awareness of the variety of techniques with regards to the study of the English language
