ThinkImpact Institutes are study abroad alternative immersion programs in social innovation and social entrepreneurship for students and faculty who care about collaborative, sustainable approaches to community development. Our programs place students in rural communities in Rwanda, Ghana South Africa, Panama, Mexico and Kenya where they work side by side with locals to identify innovative solutions to social challenges.
Summary
Team Leads are contract positions. Team Leads report to the Panama Country Director, with general oversight and direction from the CEO. Country Directors are passionate about working in a multicultural team to setup and manage programs for students, young professionals, and rural community members. Their role is comprised of three main components: 1) operations, 2) curricular design and implementation, and 3) community relations.

This particular Team Lead will be managing an exciting institute: a collaboration between our Chinese partner, CollegeNode and ThinkImpact Panama. This Institute is one-of-a-kind. A cross-cultural innovation experience unlike any other. It will challenge, excite and leave a lasting impression on any Team Lead. The internship begins June 1 and runs through August 13. Three debrief sessions are required through August and September after the institute has completed.

Desired Skills and Experience

General
o Assists setup & management of Panama-Chinese-ThinkImpact Institute June 1-July 20
o Facilitates the Institute over three weeks fulltime in the communities where ThinkImpact works during programs
o Documents Team Lead experience via photo/video/blog
o Plays role in risk management, ensuring all issues are addressed in timely and effective manor
o Acts as advisor & mentor to scholars, listening & offering support
Operations
o Assists with logistics including transport, hotels, meals, water, excursions, etc.
o Manages scholar groups & acts as their first point of contact
o Collects scholar blogs, pictures & video to share with the team for use on website, newsletters, & in marketing materials
o Works with staff to plan & execute the orientation & post-program periods
Curricular Design & Implementation
o Manages curriculum progress during programs, working alongside staff to teach, train & innovate
o Collects curriculum feedback
o Runs program participant trainings & workshops
• Community Relations
o Works with CD to set up & train host families & community organizers
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Degree in progress
• Fluent written & spoken English
• Ability to travel to rural areas where ThinkImpact works & stay when programs are running
• Comfortable interacting with stakeholders from government to community leaders to host families
•Interest in community development & entrepreneurship
• Organized & detail oriented, adaptive problem solver
• Experience managing teams &/or teaching students
• High level of comfort living, working, and traveling in rural communities
