Program Description

This project aims at improving Basic English skills of the underprivileged youth. The program covers those in the age group of 12-15 years. The school provides free or affordable education to youth who are orphaned or whose families have little or no income.

In short, the program seeks to improve the listening, speaking and reading skills of the students. Give back to the local community in a meaningful manner as you benefit the youth in a project that will have long-term benefits.

Work alongside volunteer teachers at public school providing education to the most vulnerable youth, supporting counselling, environmental and social awareness. This project brings you to the heart of the vibrant Moroccan city of Marrakech.

Highlights

• Opportunities to participate in extra activities that lead to a better intercultural understanding (i.e. trips, visit some cultural events)
• Being introduced as international interns/volunteers to other aspects of the placement; for example social or community events.
• Onsite orientation and training.
• Specific, structured job responsibilities.
• Tasks appropriate for international people.
• Available staff to adequately supervise interns/volunteers.
• A safe workplace, with protections against discrimination, harassment, and exploitation of the volunteer.

Qualifications

• Who will be open-minded and ready to get involved in a variety of activities aiming to support disadvantaged people.
• Experience in teaching.
• Interest in teaching career.
• A commitment to learning and a willingness to encourage others to participate in activities.
• Flexibility
• Fluent in English or French.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience in working with a wide variety of people; cultural sensitivity, and ability to work on sensitive topics.
• Ready to share the lifestyle of local people (simple accommodation, transport by bus or bicycle, local food).
• High motivation and to be ready to face language and cultural differences.

- Moroccan CIM number to reach the CATED office to report incidents.
- Accommodation with full board in local family; also there is a possibility to stay in a furnished apartment but its depends on your time of volunteering/internship as well as if there are enough volunteers to contribute for the rent of the apartment as you know real estate in Marrakech region is higher like European cities (Participants could book accommodations by themselves or find cheap accommodations and book them before they join local project )
