Teaching Assistant

Program Description

Our teaching assistant program is an excellent opportunity to develop your passion for teaching and gain international work experience. You will gain an in-depth understanding of the Jamaican curriculum and the teaching methods that are popular here, as well as being able to exchange ideas with your new colleagues. You will assist with planning engaging lessons and help the main teacher to deliver these lessons to the students. You will also provide one-on-one support to students who might be struggling to catch up, whilst building rewarding relationships with the students and the local teachers.

Highlights

Working with children is always a rewarding experience. With V2, you will be providing much needed assistance and support to children who are often overlooked. In addition to this, you will explore a side to Jamaica that many other tourists do not get to see and enjoy the unspoilt landscapes, vibrant communities, and beautiful sandy beaches that have not yet been swallowed up by the mass tourism industry.

Qualifications

We do not ask for our teaching assistants to have any specific qualifications. If you have experience in teaching or are studying to be a teacher, do let us know and we will be able to offer you the chance to lead classes and activities by ourself. We do insist that all of our volunteers working with children provide us with a criminal background check or, as it is known in the UK, a DBS certificate.
