Public & Community Health

Program Description

Our Public & Community Health interns will work in volunteer placements in a variety of public health issues, depending on their strengths, interests, and experience. Potential placements could include:

Assisting medical staff in a local community health center

Water resource management, potable water testing, and conducting public health surveys

Translating for and supporting international doctors in rural health brigades

Volunteering in a local grassroots health organization

Highlights

Our internship programs is designed to fully immerse participants in the Amazonian ecology and culture, while implementing projects in conjunction with our partner organizations. In these programs, participants live with local homestay families and choose to work on the projects responding to their personal interests.

Qualifications

Participant has graduated or is currently enrolling in a degree in health sciences.

What`s Included

Our immersion program has a $235/week fee which includes the following:

Pre-departure orientation
In-country orientation
Host family with three meals
24 hours 7 days per week for medical assistance and emergency response.
Ongoing support from our staff for your professional and personal growth
Re-entry orientation
