Program Description

The Florida State University first opened its doors in Florence in 1966, the year of the Great Flood which allowed many students to help save important works of art damaged by the flood. Students were given a key to the city as a sign of appreciation. This program is designed to provide students with real work experience while enjoying one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Florida State Florence Program has benefited from this relationship by providing outstanding internship opportunities in a city renowned for its glorious cultural history and one of the world's most magnificent cities.

Past interns have been placed in positions with prestigious art museums and galleries. Placements are made on a case-by-case basis and all interns are assigned a placement prior to departure for Florence. Florida State also has contacts with world-class hotels and restaurants and art restoration specialists. This exposure and experience provides knowledge and potential entry to a variety of career opportunities. All of these opportunities immerse students in the unique culture of Florence. Interns acquire international employment references, make invaluable connections, and gain important practical work experience.
