This is a brilliant opportunity to gain international experience working with disadvantaged children and rehabilitated animals. Our partner organisation helps disabled children and young people who have experienced trauma to build confidence, resolve any trust issues and work on their interpersonal skills. As a volunteer, you will interact with the children whilst they wait for their lesson, by running entertaining and education workshops and planning engaging activities. If you having experiences with horses, you can join the therapists on the lessons and contribute to the day-to-day care of the horses.
Program highlights
Working with children and animals can be extremely rewarding and even therapeutic. As well as gaining invaluable first-hand experience in an international setting, you will have the unique opportunity to live and work on one of the most beautiful islands in the world, Tobago. Tobago is famed for its pristine beaches and its lush protected rainforests, as well as its rich culture and warm, friendly people. There is plenty to keep you occupied during your down time; you can explore coral reefs, go hiking in the rainforest, or even hop on a boat and visit the neighbouring island, Trinidad. Perhaps the most exciting part of the week is Sunday School; a huge beach party that takes place every Sunday night so that the locals can welcome in the new week.
