Program Description

Adventure, History and Cultural Immersion

Daily Schedule

As professionals with cultural immersion and travel, we are equipped to help you explore four of the major cultural capitals of the world. Each day will bring you opportunities to be immersed in the local culture as you explore and learn about all aspects of these phenomenal cities in a variety of contexts. During the morning session, we will have onsite lessons through museums and around monuments with a guided tour. During the afternoon and evening session, you will the chance to go on excursions and participate in cultural activities. We also have a nightly group meal. While we focus on themes through history, we will balance major sites with off-the-beaten-trail areas that tourist do not frequent.

Itinerary

Athens (Week 1)

Explore the works of influential and impactful Greek thinkers in the hallowed city of Athens, home to ancient Greece. Gaze at important monuments, discover Athenian society, and discover the political leaders, artists and philosophers who have continued to speak through the ages: Alexander the Great of Macedonia, Pericles, Aristotle, Plato and Socrates. Athens features a fascinating contemporary culture. Have a blast as you tantalize your taste buds with Greek fusion and traditional fare through our dinners. Shop in the open air markets and engage with the local community in the historic neighborhood of Plaka. End this first week with a trip to Glyfada, a private beach resort and soak in the sun.

Rome (Week 2)

Pompeii, the 2,000 year old town awaits us next as we explore a Roman society preserved through time. We venture around the foothills of Mt. Vesuvius before making our way to the Eternal City. Visit the Vatican, Pantheon, and Colosseum as you learn about Constantine and Augustus and view their remaining relics. Find your own, “When in Rome…” story as you explore during the evenings and eat up the town.

Florence (Week 3)

Beautiful Florence, home of the Italian Renaissance, is next up on our exciting journey. View Michelangelo’s David at the Uffizi and Accademia Gallery. Breathe in the masterpieces of Renaissance art and discuss the impact of the evolution and shifts of society and politics from Donatello to the ruling Medici family.

Paris (Week 4)

The City of Light beckons as our final stop. View the Arc de Triomphe, Sainte Chapelle, Notre Dame, Versailles and Bastille. Enjoy our lively discussion of the French Enlightenment, French Revolution, era of absolute monarchy and the Middle Ages. We will take you on a journey through the Centre Pompidou, Museé d’Orsay, and the Louvre. Enjoy a boat ride on the Seine and eat a picnic on the banks. Explore the historic neighborhoods and make the most of the café and restaurant culture.
