Program Description
Courses: English Grade 11 University Preparation (ENG3U), English Grade 12 University Preparation (ENG4U)
Journey down the East Coast of the United States to experience the best that North America has to offer. Catch a glimpse of the President at the White House, volunteer at the Boston Food Bank and spend an afternoon at Six Flags Amusement Park. From Harvard Square to the bright lights of Broadway to the world-renowned structures of Washington D.C., students will be immersed in the true ‘spirit’ of America.
Arrive at Harvard University to receive a campus tour from a Harvard student and take in the full ivy-league experience. Trace the footsteps of Holden Caulfield, a major character from one of our novels of study around NYC, including Central Park, Greenwich Village and the Lower East Side. Visit the Museum of the Moving Image to collect information for a Film Adaptation assignment on a novel of study. Immerse yourself in a community of your choice like Harlem, Queens or Brooklyn and prepare a presentation to demonstrate the relationship between these communities, literature and art. Stop at one of the many Smithsonian Museums and the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. to gather background research to help shape the context of our novel study.
