OUTWARD BOUND CR: SERVICE, HIKE & HOMESTAY (AGES 14-18)

Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

Discover the true meaning of “off the beaten path” as you embark on two to eight week course that includes a deep-jungle trek where spectacular rainforest valleys, cascading waterfalls, and winding rivers will both awe and challenge you.

Start your journey in the thick of the tropical rainforest, where you will set up camp mid-trail, learn to make food in the backcountry, and maintain your gear for the days ahead. Wake up to fresh animal tracks, impressive plant life, and rugged trails as you navigate your way to village homestays. Once there, experience true Costa Rican hospitality and a profound example of rural living as you learn to make corn tortillas from scratch and crank the traditional trapiche to squeeze juice from freshly harvested sugar cane. Connect with your course mates on a waterfall rappel where you will make the adrenaline-pumping 80-ft descent down the face of the falls.

After your rainforest expedition, head into a region known for its mischievous monkeys, lazy sloths, and beautiful coastline with a visit to Manuel Antonio National Park. Spend time at the beach and learn about local ecosystems before heading to your whitewater rafting adventure.
