High School Summer Immersion in Spain-Group Study

Program Description

YES Summer in Spain: Group Study is an intensive Spanish language and culture immersion program designed for optimized learning. Students study Language, Culture, History and other topics in Spanish and attend a supplemental discussion forum to facilitate the collective absorption and comprehension of their new international experiences. Participants live with local Spanish host families in order to maximize exposure to and participation in the Spanish language and daily life. Classroom hours are complimented by field excursions to various Andalusian sites, giving participants real-life insight to local history and culture. Students have constant support available via group chaperons, host families, an on-site Program Director and other YES faculty.

Highlights

YES´ Group Study High School Summer Immersion program consist of 4 main highlights:

• Study Language, Culture, History and other topics in Spanish
• Visit field excursions to various Andalusian sites, giving participants real-life insight to local history and culture
• Participate in everyday Spanish life with host families
• Interact on a daily basis with Intercambios, Spanish peers from whom they learn language and culture through social interaction. The intercambio
program sets our immersion apart in that our students are assigned a Spanish pen-pal months prior to arrival. Once here in Seville, the US students
get to know Seville with a peer
