Program Description

On the Costa Rica Sea Turtle Ecology Program, Students comb the beaches of Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast in search of the elusive leatherback sea turtle and its hatchlings. With the help of trained research assistants, students collect data that will contribute to leatherback conservation and sharpen their own understanding of the scientific process.
Next, students travel inland, to a tropical reserve, where they’ll explore the Costa Rican rainforest, home of howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, iguanas, dart frogs, and a host of other species.
After completing their course study, students visit a local high school, practice their Spanish while playing soccer, and try local cuisine with Costa Rican students. On their final day, students go on a spectacular white water rafting trip on the Sarapiqui River.
