Doctorate of Multimedia and Design

Program Description

The Doctorate of Multimedia and Design is a three-year or four-year programme taught in English language at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications (FMC) of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Multimedia and Design is a discipline which nowadays plays an important role in economics, trade and design, so this programme is focused on theoretical and creative activity in this field. A specific highlight of the PhD programme is the emphasis on creating teams to solve different tasks. Teamwork in the field of multimedia and design helps to create new connections among the fields of marketing, media presentations and IT Technologies. The graduates are ready for professional creative and research activities in the academic field, in industry, education, as well as cultural institutions, in media and companies dealing with advertising industry. The language skill of graduates enables them to participate in international projects and to publish their research results in international journals.

Duration: 6 or 8 semesters (3 or 4 academic years)
Mode of study: Full-time/part-time
Degree obtained: Doctoral (abbr. “Ph.D.”)
Tuition fee: approx. EUR 2,500 per 1 academic year
First-year students may be awarded the TBU PhD scholarship amounting up to CZK 96,000 (approx. EUR 3,560) per academic year (full-time students only). Starting from second year, the total annual amount is based on the student’s academic performance.
