Universidad de Valparaíso, was founded in 1981 on the basis of the largest campus of the Universidad de Chile in regions. It is a state higher education institution, independent and accredited, with an academic tradition dates back to 1911.
This institution develops teaching, research and outreach, through its 1O Faculties, 41 undergraduate programs, 38 graduate programs, 37 medical and dentistry specializations, and 19 research centers.
With a total enrolment of 15,500 undergraduates and 1,500 graduates develops its academic mission at the highest level of excellence to meet the interests and needs of the country, and Valparaíso Regíon.
Universidad de Valparaíso aims to form professionals and citizens with responsibility and commitment to community, who take an active role in the development of an open society tolerant, pluralist and respectful of liberties and rights of individuals.
Professionals and graduates of Universidad de Valparaíso must hold a solid disciplinary and ethical basis, which responds to the needs and requirements of society, contributing with their innovative capacity and critical spirit to its development. They should be able to constitute and lead multidisciplinary teams and generate projects to respond creatively to those challenges posed by the regional and national reality.
According to the strategic plan promotes academic mobility for students and faculty members in undergraduate and graduate programs, to expand their generic skills and place them in a global world. It seeks to enhance mobility outgoing and incoming programs for students and academics. For this purpose the University aims to significantly increasing international networks and managing financial resources .from various sources to finance mobility grants. Currently, it has 75 exchange programs with 60 universities from different countries.
