explore africa

If there's one thing that you should know about Africa as a travel destination, it's the fact that it is the most incredible place and offers the most amazing experiences. Picture this: big cats roaming freely across the landscape, beautiful beaches, luscious mountains, and awe-inspiring desserts; Africa has a lot to offer its visitors.

What makes Africa such an incredible travel destination is the fact that it's home to a diverse range of natural sights and attractions, along with boasting a heritage quite unlike any other, in addition to a rich and unrivalled culture. This continent also offers a number of outdoor adventures, from rock climbing and abseiling to caving and kayaking, making it somewhere that is perfect for adrenaline junkies, as well as nature lovers.

To help make planning the perfect trip a little easier, find below a guide to exploring Africa, and packed it full of useful hints and tips to ensure that you can plan for the most incredible break. Read on for everything that you need to know.

Plan, Prepare and Schedule

Before you jet off on your trip, it's vital that you take the time to plan, prepare and schedule properly. With so much to see and do, it can be overwhelming to arrive with no action plan for how you would like to spend your time on the continent. That's why it pays to spend some time beforehand researching the location that you're heading to and what sights and attractions it has to offer.

It's worthwhile booking any experiences that you are certain you want to do while you're away beforehand, to ensure that you can schedule them into your itinerary and that they don't get booked up.

Going on Safari

If there's one sight that you cannot miss while you're in Africa, it's the big five - aka lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino and leopard - which is why it's recommended that you book a safari to enjoy on your trip. You will find safari experiences offered across the entirety of the continent, such as from companies like Tanzania Odyssey, so wherever you're planning to head to - be it South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Uganda - you are sure to find an incredible safari experience on offer.

The National Parks are a Must See

Africa is home to a number of amazing National Parks, many of which house animal sanctuaries within them. For anyone with a passion for adventure, wildlife and wilderness, these National Parks make the ideal location for a day of exploring - or even an overnight camp out under the stars.

There are lots of National Parks to choose from, but one of the most popular is Kruger National Park in South Africa. If you're staying within this area, it's well worth taking the time to explore. Alternatively, there are incredible parks across the entire continent to choose from.

Climb That Mountain

Did you know that Africa is home to a number of mountain scapes? Fancy getting a bird's eye view of some of the continent's most incredible views - then doing a little mountain climbing could be a great way to spend part of your trip.

If you happen to be in Cape Town, Table Mountain, Africa's iconic flat-topped mountain, is a must-visit. You can even take a cable car up to the top, so there's no need to worry if you're not a climbing enthusiast.
