Taking a Gap Year Abroad

Taking a gap year can be a much-needed break and a time to learn about themselves for many people but it’s not for everyone. If you know exactly what you want to do with your life, are a homebody or don’t like taking risks, a gap year is not for you. However, if you are uncertain about your future studies or career and not afraid of the unexpected, then a gap year might be just what the doctor ordered.

By the end of that year, you’ll have friends all over the world which may come in very useful if you’d like to do another year in a different country or sometime in the future. In each country, work if possible, volunteer, or just stay busy during your travels to get the most out of your time. 4. Most of all, stay safe. Do your research ahead of time about each country, have traveler’s insurance, know how to keep your valuables safe at all times, keep someone in the loop about where you are each day, learn basic first aid, stay in public places and always be aware of your surroundings
