Founded in 2004, Crossroads Springs Primary School is both a school and orphanage and is a top performing school both academically and in co-curriculum activities. The school was initiated purposely to provide care for orphans and vulnerable children most of whose parents had died of HIV/AIDS. The School strives to help students to develop skills in order to be able support themselves in future.
Crossroad Springs started with 40 children in 2004 and now serves 220 children, with over 120 children being total orphans. The children are of mixed gender and their ages are from 3 years to 13 years. These children are provided with education, meals, shelter and medical needs. The school runs from ECD (Kindergarten) to Standard eight (eighth grade). The school also accepts children who are not orphaned in order to be inclusive.
The activities undertaken by the school include; teaching the children, training the children in doing music, poems and traditional dancing, training the children in athletics and ball games like football and netball as well as training children in scouting activities. The school also hosts a women group called mukhono khu mukhono, which does rearing of pigs, fish, chicken.
