Salary/Pay:
The position is for a Volunteer Co-Teacher. The monthly stipend is 600 GEL (Georgian Lari), which is approximately 245 USD. The TLG volunteer will be placed with a host family, which each volunteer is required to pay directly to the host family 200 GEL to cover food and housing, which leaves 400 GEL, which is approximately 165 USD a month.  Additionally, several hours a week of teaching English to the host family is a required part of the program.   Please note that offering private lessons to students at the school where you are placed as a volunteer is prohibited.
Selecting a desired location in Georgia is unavailable to TLG volunteers. Please understand that most schools in the regional villages have been on the waiting list for a native English speaking teacher for many years, and the TLG program follows the process of placing teachers in schools based on this waiting order.
The teaching structure is that of a dual co-teaching arrangement.  That being said, this is not a situation where volunteers have their own classrooms and design the curriculum at their own discretion.
We understand the monthly stipend amount is quite low compared to that of European and Asian ESL Language schools.
If you would like to move forward with your application for the 2018 - 2019 academic year, please advise and we can put you on the waiting list.
  • Dear applicants, we encourage you to leave a personal review if you have ever taken part in this program. Leaving a review will help fellow travelers to decide where to go and which program to go with as they plan their trip abroad.
